Gimhani shares her experiences at SilverStripers

Gimhani is our QA developer. After being with us from 2013 (nearly 2 years), she is going to make a change in her career. Read on what she says after looking back at the years she has been with us.

1. Can you describe your role at SilverStripers?

I work as a Quality Assurance Tester at SilverStripers. I am involved in almost all the projects the company does. My involvement starts from the beginning of the project and goes till the client hand over. I am responsible in reading the requirements specs, understanding them, analysing and making test plans and getting them signed off. Once signed off I make tickets for the developers, set up milestones, and do manual testing, functional testing, and I do even write automated tests using Selenium and Behat. 

2. What is the best thing you like about working at SilverStripers? (If anything)

I love working with the team. And each project pushed the boundaries further, there are new challenges everyday, and new things to learn. 

3. Any unforgettable moment at SilverStripers ?

When i was first interviewed to join SilverStripers as an intern. I was interviewed by Barry, technical director of Booking Live. Which was quite a challenging interview for me as a new graduate, specially with a foreigner. 

Also when I joined there were a few of my friends from the same year working with me as QAs. That was a nice time! Also I enjoyed each time when we did a project smoothly from start to end. 

What is your hidden talent, or an escape trick ?

 None that I can think of. Hmm...

4. Favourite movie / star ? 

Movie: Dessert Flower, The butterfly effect, A Beautiful Mind, Titanic, Lord of the rings, X Men, The Hunger Games, Minions, 9, 3 Idots, Devdas, Queen

Star: Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Angelina Jolie , Shahrukh khan, Sidharth Malhotra, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kajol Devagan

5. Anything you gotta say about the music playlists at work ?

Well, I dont like the 80s retro music which sometimes (most of the time) get played. But the new rock, pop, rnb music is pretty cool. I like the playlists Dilani (she is our manager) plays. 

6. What advice will you have for anyone who joins SilverStripers ?

SilverStripers is one of the coolest places to work. The team is very helpful, and knows their job well. Never stop learning. You will be getting to learn new stuff on a daily basis. Also I believe the more you learn the more satisfaction you will get. 

7. Any favourite project (s)?

Actually a few. BookingLive, Westpac Rescue website, LK Domain Registry, ISCEP.info. I've got more, but these are the top 4 haha!
